Mogadishu – July 15th, 2014: The Acting SRCC-Honorable Lydia Wanyoto Mutende took a tour of the Mission Headquarters within basecamp to appreciate herself of the living conditions of AMISOM troops. During the tour, the Acting SRCC also inspected United Nation Support Office for AMISOM (UNSOA) especially in the area on the ongoing construction of accommodation and Guard Towers for AMISOM forces.

Earlier in the day, Mutende received in her office the Special Representative of the European Union for Somalia-Ambassador Michele Cervoned’Urso. The two held consultations on matters of mutual interest with regard to support for the Federal Government of Somalia in line with their mandates focusing on support for military expansion.

The Acting SRCC also chaired a meeting of the Joint Working Group on Human Rights Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP) regarding support by the United Nations presence in Somalia to non-United Nations Security Forces in Somalia. The Joint Working Group which consists of AMISOM and UNSOM was also attended by the Deputy UN SRSG for Somalia-Ambassador Fatiha Serour.
