  • 07 Oct 2015 - The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia and Head of AMISOM Ambassador Maman Sidikou says it is possible to do business in Somalia, despite the disruptions caused by terror group Al-Shabaab. Speaking to the Somali business community in Minnesota, United States, Ambassador Sidikou said Somalia was on the rise economically, adding that investment by Somalis in the diaspora would give impetus to the creation of wealth.
  • 28 Sep 2015 - The new Chief of Defence Forces of the Somali National Army Maj. Gen. Mohamed Adan Ahmed took over office on Saturday, two days after his swearing in. Maj. Gen. Ahmed took over the reins of power from his predecessor Maj. Gen. Dahir Adan Elmi at a function held at the ministry of defence headquarters in Mogadishu.
  • 05 Aug 2015 - The AMISOM CIMIC Office of the Kenyan Contingent in Sector 2 has in the past few months embarked on offering outpatient medical services, provision of water through sinking of boreholes and water pans and building of latrines throughout the sector. In Afmadhow town in Lower Jubba Region over 1,000 local residents have benefited from the outpatient medical services including medical checkups and provision of pharmaceutical drugs offered by the AMISOM troops.  
  • 02 Aug 2015 - Baidoa:  The British Ambassador to Somalia, Amb. Harriet Mathews has commended AMISOM Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) troops for playing a pivotal role in the fight against Al Shabaab. This, she noted, has greatly improved the security situation in Sector 3 which is their area of responsibility, and in the rest of Somalia by extension.  
  • 01 Aug 2015 - Mogadishu, 1st August-The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia (SRCC) Ambassador Maman Sidikou has saluted the outgoing police contingent from Uganda for contributing to the success of the African Union Mission in Somalia. He spoke during a medal awards ceremony for 138 police officers from the Ugandan Formed Police Unit who have concluded their one-year tour of duty in Somalia.
  • 25 Jul 2015 - Kismayo, July 25th -The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Police unit is engaging with the Interim Jubba Administration on plans to train at least 600 officers of the Somali Police Force. This is in fulfilment of its mandate to train and build the capacity of the Somali Police Force. The AMISOM Deputy Police Commissioner Christine Alalo led a delegation to Kismayo to discuss modalities for vetting and screening of the recruits in Kismayo.
